ABOUT THE TEAM
Today, not only does Legit Manila cover automotive events while continuing to feature cool cars and owners; we’ve gone so far as creating events of our own. Our feature car stories too have diversified greatly thanks to our kababayans (countrymen) living around the world. Thanks to the thousands of followers, we have, and contributors gained through the years, LegitManila, has grown into a community of car culture fanatics. Legit Manila was established out of our deep affection for the car culture in the Philippines, particularly here in Metro Manila.
The Origins of LegitManila: Solo Challenge
The Solo Challenge under LegitManila was born from a place of deep nostalgia and a desire to honor the roots of Philippine motorsports. The concept first took shape two years ago during a heartfelt conversation between Jay Pompa and Jordan Aparicio, as they reminisced about the golden days of Tatay Dan’s Philippine Autocross and the lasting impact he made before his passing. What began as a tribute to those shared memories and a wish to revive the spirit of grassroots racing finally found its perfect moment when an opportunity surfaced in Cauayan, Isabela. Invited to bring their vision to life, the team is launching the discipline as a cornerstone of the 25th Anniversary of the Gawagawayan Festival, turning a long-held dream into a high-octane reality that celebrates both local heritage and the enduring legacy of the autocross community.
